Thanksgiving Day at MNBC

Students rejoice with love shown in action from the district

Faculty and staff help divide the fruits and vegetables for distribution

It was a day of blessings for Melanesia Nazarene Bible College students and staff members as the Tun Circuit church leaders came in with food and dry firewood contributions. Because students cook on open fires in kitchens called haus cook, the firewood is greatly appreciated.

The thanksgiving plan organized by the Western Highlands District Advisory members calls for zones or circuits to bring contributions to the campus to show their support of education of pastors and leaders in Papua New Guinea.

Kimil-Dei Circuit from North Whagi also gave their contributions in May. Other circuits are planning to bring contribututions later in the semester.

The students and faculty last semester also helped others by taking food to patients in the hospital and those in the district who have had family members die.

In Papua New Guinea, staples include starchy vegetables (wild sago, breadfruit, yams, taro, sweet potatoes, and rice) complemented by wild greens, several varieties of bananas, and coconuts, mango, and other fruits.

Clinic Opening Soon on Campus

Clinic Opening Soon

When the principal of the newly organized Teacher's College in PNG needed a place to live, the Bible College assisted by providing a home, but lost the location of its clinic in doing so. There was no place to store needed medicine and supplies. There was no place for a nurse to see patients. Faculty and staff prayed for a solution to the problem.

But God had already spoken to the hearts of people in the US who were concerned about the health care of students. With the help of these donors, a classroom is being remodeled to include a clinic with desk, storage space, bed, and restroom. As funds are sent, there will also be an area for a small faculty lounge, book closet, and faculty offices.
